Converting community greenwaste into quality organic compost doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we came up with this handy infographic to explain the commercial composting process.
As part of our ongoing commitment to educating the community about the importance of composting, as well as showing the considerable work that goes on behind the scenes here at Composting New Zealand, we’re happy to unveil a fun infographic we think nicely achieves both these aims.
Our greenwaste-to-compost process is a virtuous cycle, from which all parties benefit:-
- Customers and local councils can dispose of their green waste easily and at a reasonable price.
- We process the greenwaste and produce organic compost using the commercial composting process outlined in the infographic, investing considerable time, labour and diligence, eventually selling the resulting Compost, Garden Mix, Value Mix & Lawn Mix products to the public from our two Wellington region locations.
- Customers purchase our reasonably priced products, safe in the knowledge that our composting process conforms to strict and rigorous standards.
- The wider community receives the residual benefit of a reduction in landfill, thanks to our operation.
Transparency is one of our core values, and as such we’re proud to be at the forefront of education on sustainability. We welcome school or community garden groups to come and visit our main composting facility in Kapiti by prior arrangement, to tour the facility and to learn more about our operation.
